Xavier Phoenix won Field Athlete of the Year honors leading the DeSales University men's track & field team to a fifth place finish at the MAC Indoor T&F Championships hosted by Alvernia University on Friday and Saturday.
Saturday's Results
Phoenix took home his second MAC Gold medal winning the triple jump with a mark of 14.23m to earn Field Athlete of the Year honors.
The 4x800 meter relay featuring sophomore
Josh Deremer, junior
Ben Philippy, junior
Shane Artis, and senior
Carl Tyce won MAC Gold as well taking first with a time of 8:01.72.
Tyce doubled up taking MAC Gold winning the 800-meters in a time of 1:56.01. Deremer (7th - 1:58.77) and Philippy (8th - 1:59.44) also earned points in the 800-meters.
Rounding out the top finishers were junior
Kyle Dunbar taking fourth in the 200-meters (22.93) and eighth in the 400-meters (52.71) and Artis finishing seventh in the mile (4:22.09).
Friday's Results
The DMR broke both the MAC Record and the school-record by 12 seconds to take home first place in a time of 10:16.99. The relay consisted of junior

Carl Tyce, who ran the anchor mile leg in 4:17.

Xavier Phoenix was equally impressive on Friday setting both a MAC and School record in the long jump with a final jump of 7.30m to break his own school-record to earn first place.

Matt Santacoloma also earned points taking eighth in the 5,000-meters in a time of 15:19.44.
