Kutztown, PA (September 15, 2023) - The DeSales University men's cross country took home second place out of 10 teams at the Kutztown University Division II/III Challenge on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs finished with just 54 points to notch a second-place finish out of 10 teams. The Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with MAC foes from Stevenson and PSAC teams such as Bloomsburg, Kutztown, and Shippensburg at the meet.
Three Bulldogs finished among the top ten finishers in the race. Senior
Shane Artis led the pack, finishing in a time of 26:30.0 to finish fourth place overall. Senior
Nick Manidis (26:44.2) and graduate student
Matt Santacoloma (
26:58.7) finished eighth and ninth overall, respectively.
Two more Bulldogs also received awards for earning a spot among the top 20 overall finishers. First-year
Joey Wilson finished 17
th overall in his 8K debut, finishing in a time of
27:36.2. Junior
Josh Deremer was close behind, finishing 18
th overall with a personal best time of
27:39.9.
Rounding out the top seven for the team were sophomore
Davis Trump, who finished 22
nd overall in his 8K debut (
27:55.3), and graduate student
Brian Bruno – finishing 25
th overall in a time of
28:00.9.
The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend for the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational at Big Spring High School, home of this year's NCAA Division III National Championships.
