Chester, PA (January 25, 2025) - The DeSales University men's track and field team competed at Widener University Select Meet, hosted at the brand-new University of Penn indoor track on Friday and Saturday.
Beginning Friday, sophomore Joey Wilson finished in 3rd place overall in the 5000-meter run, with a time of 15:32.08. Joey's time makes him the 9th fastest indoor 5000-meter runner in DeSales's school history.
In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Sam Estherson placed 5th overall with a time of 8.52. This ties Sam with Daniel Mends as the second fastest 60-meter hurdle time in school history.
Sophomore Colin Marsh competed in the 400 finishing in 51.84 seconds, while securing 5th place overall. Colin's performance was the 4th fastest indoor 400-meter time in school history.
In the 800-meter race sophomore Jozef Callano finished in 6th place overall with a time of 1:57.83. Jozef's time earned him the 69th fastest 800-meter time on the 2025 Indoor Division III Top 100. Jozef's time of 1:57.83 is the 5th fastest time in school history. Another notable performance for DSU in the 800-meter was first-year Alex Porambo who placed 24th overall with a personal record of 2:03.03.
First-year Bryce Phillips competed in the 3000-meter race, taking 28th place overall with a time of 9:15.96.
In the 200-meter, junior Tyler McCulloch placed 26th overall with a season best time of 23.20. Tyler's time puts him as the 5th fastest indoor 200-meter runner in school history.
Wrapping up the first day of the meet, DeSales finished 7th in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:28.70. The relay team's time also earned them the 52nd fastest 4x400 time on the indoor 2025 Division III Top 100 list. Their team time is also the 3rd fastest indoor 4x400 time in school history.
On Saturday, the track meet continued with DeSales competing in the fields events. In the long jump was sophomore Lens Demosthene who placed 12th with a season best jump of 6.21 meters. Lens' distance is the 9th best indoor distance in school history. Sophomore Weston Simak followed right behind taking 13th with a mark of 6.19 meters.
Following up in the triple jump, was sophomore Weston Simak who placed 14th overall with a jump of 13.01 meters.
In shot put, senior Jacob Schaeffer placed 13th overall with a throw of 13.32 meters. Senior Nick Chinn finished 38th overall with a mark of 11.12 meters. Junior Giovanni Wellington took 49th overall with a throw of 10.51 meters.
Closing out the field events in the weight throw was senior Jacob Schaeffer who placed 10th overall with a throw of 13.85 meters. Sophomore Cameron Williams took 23rd overall with a throw of 12.69 meters. Junior Giovanni Wellington finished 36th overall with a mark of 11.11 meters.
The Bulldog's are back in action next Sunday (February 2) at the DeSchriver Invitational in East Stroudsburg, PA.
