Men’s Track and Field Competes at Cornell University

Ithaca, NY (February 22, 2025) - The DeSales University indoor track and field team competed at the Marc Deneault Invitational hosted by Cornell University. Cornell's iconic indoor track facility is located in Barton Hall, which has been home to the Cornell track team since the 1920s. Despite the buildings age and history, the building has undergone several renovations, including the addition of a track center as well as a new track surface.  
 
Starting on the field in the weight throw was junior Giovanni Wellington, who placed 4th overall with a throw of 15.18 meters. Taking 5th place overall was sophomore Cameron Williams, with a throw of 14.99 meters. Senior Jacob Schaeffer took 11th place overall with a throw of 13.46 meters.
 
In the shot put coming in 8th place overall was senior Jacob Schaeffer, with a throw of 13.92 meters. Senior Nick Chinn placed 17th with a throw of 11.32 meters.
 
On the track in the 5000 meter, first-year James Viglianti placed 4th overall with a time of 17:07.89. Junior James Cook finished in 5th place overall with a time of 17:30.53. In 6th place was sophomore Andrew Sidorski, who finished with a time of 17:43.19.
 
Earning 5th place overall in the 60 meter hurdles was senior Sam Estherson with a final time of 8.39.
 
In the 60 meter, junior Tyler McCulloch took 9th place overall with a time of 7.14. Following up in 14th place was Senior Sam Estherson, who earned a time of 7.39. Sophomore Bryce Guthier finished in 17th place overall with a time of 7.43.
 
For the mile, finishing in 14th place overall was senior Josh Deremer, with an overall time of 4:35.60. Josh's fast time also earned him the MAC qualifying standard in the mile.  In 17th place was senior Tim Connell who finished with an overall time of 4:47.29. Junior Jordan Gallo took 20th place overall, with a time of 5:02.48. Placing in 22nd overall, was first-year Brian Samayoa with a time of 5:11.68. Following right behind in 23rd overall was senior John Murphy with a final time of 5:23.75.
 
In the 400 meter, sophomore Colin Marsh, who placed 9th overall with a time of 53.32. Colin's time earned him the MAC qualifying standard in the 400. Taking 19th overall was sophomore Lens Demosthene with a final time of 59.36.
 
In the long jump two DeSales jumpers tied for 12th place. Sophomore Weston Simak and first-year Jonathan Castronovo each recorded a distance of 6.19 meters and tied for 12th place. Also in the long jump was sophomore Javell McMichael, who finished in 24th place with a jump of 5.63 meters.
 
In the triple jump finishing in 8th place overall, was first-year Jonathan Castronovo with a jump of 12.78 meters. Sophomore Weston Simak took 12th place overall with a jump of 12.08 meters. Coming in 18th place, was junior Peter Skulski with a jump of 11.27 meters.
 
Back to the track in the 600 meter was junior Jordan Gallo who finished in 5th place overall, with a final time of 1:42.53. Taking 6th place overall was first-year Michael Arculeo, with an overall time of 1:46.12.
 
In the 800 meter, taking 4th place overall was sophomore Jozef Callano, with a final time of 1:57.02. Jozef's quick time earned him the AARTC qualifying standard for the 800. Finishing in 9th place was sophomore Joey Wilson with a time of 2:02.67. Joey's time earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the 800. Taking 14th place was first-year Alex Porambo, who finished with a time of 2:04.19.
 
For the 200 meter, placing in 9th place overall, was junior Tyler McCulloch, with a time of 23.19. Sophomore Bryce Guthier took 16th place overall, with a time of 23.76. Bryce's time also earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the 200. In 20th place overall was first-year Jack Jacobson, with a final time of 24.64.
 
In the 3000 meter finishing in 6th place overall was senior Dean Ricco, with a final time of 9:07.15. Dean's time earned him the MAC qualifying time for the 3000. First-year Bryce Phillips placed 7th overall with a final time of 9:15.90. Bryce's time also earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the 3000. Placing in 13th, was sophomore Dylan Doskocil with a time of 9:47.53.
 
Closing out the meet in the 4x400 meter relay DeSales raced two teams. Relay team "A", which consisted of Bryce Guthier, Josh Deremer, Alex Porambo,  and anchor, Jozef Callano. Relay team "A" finished with a final time of 3:34.27. Relay team "B", which consisted of Joey Wilson, Dean Ricco, Bryce Phillips, and anchor, Brian Samayoa. Relay team "B" finished with a final time of 3:56.74.
 
Next weekend, beginning on Friday February 28th  through Saturday March 2nd, the Bulldog's will be competing at MAC Indoor Championships hosted by Alvernia University.
