Men’s Track and Field Competes at Home for the DeSales Invitational

Center Valley, PA (April 12, 2025) - The DeSales University men's track & field team competed at its Home Invitational on a rainy Saturday, racing against six other schools including Immaculata, Moravian, Muhlenberg, Pratt Institute, and Scranton.
 
Before Saturday's events, on Friday night junior James Cook raced at Messiah University in the 10,000m. James finished in 8th place overall, with a time of 33:40.80. Jame's time earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the 10,000 meter run.
 
Beginning the meet in the 5000m was senior Dean Ricco, who finished in 1st place overall, with a personal record time of 15:22.74. Dean's time lands him as the 10th fastest runner in the 5000m in DeSales school history. First-year Bryce Phillips placed 6th overall, with a personal record time of 15:51.40. Both Dean and Bryce earned the MAC qualifying time for the 5000m run. First-year James Viglianti finished 11th place overall, with a personal record time of 16:190.61.
 
In the 1500m, senior Tim Connell placed 5th overall, with a time of 4:18.78. First-year Brian Samayoa finished 10th, with a time of 4:36.02. Junior Jordan Gallo placed 13th, with a time of 4:42.84.
 
More notable performances in the 400m included sophomore Jozef Callano, who placed 2nd overall, with a time of 52.07. Jozef's time earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the 400 meter run. First-year Cooper Stutz finished 3rd overall, with a time of 52.57. First-year Aidan Phillips placed 10th overall, with a personal record time of 55.30. First-year Alex Porambo finished 11th overall, with a time of 55.50.
 
Sophomore Colin Marsh took 1st place overall in the 400m Hurdles, with a time of 59.52. Colin also earned the MAC qualifying time for the 400 meter Hurdles.

In the 100m, junior Tyler McCulloch placed 4th overall, with a time of 11.86. First-year Jack Jacobson finished in 5th place overall, with a time of 11.97.
 
Performance in the 800m included sophomore Joey Wilson, who took 1st place overall, with a time of 2:04.08. Senior John Murphy finished 7th overall, with a time of 2:16.05. Junior Jordan Gallo placed 8th overall, with a time of 2:21.61. First-year Brian Samayoa finished in 9th overall, with a time of 2:21.76.
 
For the 200m taking 2nd place overall, junior Tyler McCulloch ran a time of 23.35. Sophomore Jozef Callano placed 13th overall, with a time of 25.40. First-year Alex Porambo finished in 19th, with a time of 26.21.
 
In the 3000m Steeplechase, first-year Jordan Smith took 3rd overall, with a time of 10:40.96. Senior Cody Smith finished in 4th place overall, with a time of 10:44.43. Both of the Smith brothers earned the MAC qualifying time for the 3000 meter Steeplechase.
 
The Bulldog's also put up notable performances in the Hammer Throw. Junior Jonathan Eudja finished in 1st place overall, with a throw of 47.86m. Jonathan's throw also places him as the 9th farthest in DeSales school history for the Hammer. Sophomore Cameron Williams finished in 3rd overall, with a throw of 36.66m. Junior Giovanni Wellington placed 5th overall, with a throw of 35.56m. All three hit the MAC qualifying standard for the Hammer Throw.  
 
For the Discus Throw senior Jacob Schaeffer placed 3rd overall, with a throw of 38.96m. Jacob's throw earned the MAC qualifying standard for Discus. Junior Giovanni Wellington finished in 7th place overall, with a throw of 34.64m. Senior Nick Chinn placed 9th overall, with a throw of 28.56m. Sophomore Cameron Williams placed 13th, with a throw of 26.24m. Junior Dane Watson finished in 14th, with a throw of 23.52m.
 
In the Shot Put, senior Jacob Schaeffer finished in 4th overall, with a throw of 12.77m. Junior Giovanni Wellington placed 6th overall, with a throw of 11.78m. Senior Nick Chinn finished in 7th, with a season best throw of 11.70m. All three earned the MAC qualifying throw for Shot Put.

Notable performances continued in the Long Jump with sophomore Weston Simak, who took 2nd place overall, with a jump of 6.06m. Weston's jump earned him the MAC qualifying standard for the Long Jump. Sophomore Javell McMichael placed 6th overall, with a season best jump of 5.62m. Junior Peter Skulski finished in 7th overall, with a jump of 5.47m.
 
For the Tripple Jump, first-year Jonathan Castronovo finished in 1st overall, with a jump of 13.06m. Jonathan's jump places him as the 7th farthest jump in DeSales school history. Sophomore Weston Simak placed 2nd overall, with a jump of 12.62m. Junior Peter Skulski finished in 5th overall, with a jump of 11.60m. All three earned the MAC qualifying standard for the Tripple Jump.
 
First-year Jack Jacobson finished in 1st place overall in the Pole Vault, with a jump of 3.35m.
 
In the Javelin Throw, junior Dane Watson placed 3rd overall, with a throw of 43.56m. Junior Peter Skulski finished in 7th overall, with a throw of 37.26m. Sophomore Kaden Issa placed 9th overall, with a throw of 37.11m. Sophomore Cameron Williams took 12th, with a throw of 33.36m.
 
Junior Brian Whitney placed 1st overall in the High Jump, with a jump of 1.73m.
 
Closing out the meet with the 4x400m Relay, DSU ran two separate squads. Team "A" finished in 2nd place overall, with a final time of 3:28.20. Team "B" finished in 4th overall, with a final time of 4:04.37.
 
Next Saturday, April 19th the Bulldog's will return to Widner for the Widener University Invitational.
