Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2011) – The DeSales University men's track & field team took home the CTC Outdoor T&F Championship for the second straight year, totaling 178 points, 28 points ahead of Richard Stockton College on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
It was a total team effort starting with the running events where freshman
Wendell Phillips finished second in the 100-meters (11.58) and fellow freshman
Carl Keri was fifth in 11.80 seconds. Phillips also placed fourth in the 200-meters (23.54).
Senior
Pete Moreni was fifth in the 400-meter dash (52.02), sophomore
Ben Badilla was eighth in the 400-meters (53.21), senior
Paul Ecker and freshman
Tim Haines were seventh (2:02.79) and eighth (2:03.66) in the 800-meters, and junior
Brent Clauser and senior
Mike Curry took first (4:07.80) and sixth (4:17.92) in the 1,500-meters.
Senior
Jack Tarpey and sophomore
Bob Grbas took fourth (34:54.32) and fifth (35:30.36) in the 10,000-meters and junior
Matt Lykens was eighth (36:10.77), sophomore
Neal Fox was second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.56), while freshman
Zac Sikanowicz and Fox finished fifth and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.39 and 59.95).
Senior
Andrew Ferretti was also second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:12.19) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Badilla, Moreni, freshman
Matthew Brice, and Clauser took home third place in a time of 3:30.36.
In the field events, junior
Andrew MacNiven was first in the high jump (1.88m) and was also eighth in the long (5.79m) and triple jumps (12.17m). Freshman
Adam Mathias placed fifth in the pole vault (3.80m) and sophomore
Brandon Esterly was seventh in the triple jump (12.26m).
In the throwing events, junior
Hank Miller was first in the discus (42.55m) and hammer throw (50.30m), senior
Ken Devens was second in the shot put (13.65m), second in the discus (42.00m), and second in the hammer throw (49.35m). Freshman
Jeffrey Breidinger was sixth in the shot put (12.64m), sixth in the discus (37.08m), and sixth in the hammer throw (38.18m).
Junior
Doug Harding was third in the javelin (40.67m) and sophomore
Tyler Parisi and freshman
Stephan Jokic took third (4,241 points) and fourth in the decathlon (3,866 points).
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 20th when they travel to the Griffin Mid-Week Meet at Gwynedd-Mercy College.
