1971-72 Men's Basketball team became the eighth team to be recognized by the DeSales University Hall of Fame and was the first team in men’s basketball history to post a .500 or better record finishing the season with an 8-8 record.

The team consisted of head coach Jack Sobota. Team members included: Chris Cashman, John Cooper, Jerry Fleming, Dave Glielmi, Tony Mazzeo, Michael McDermott, Steve McKee, Dennis Ramella, Bob Stormes, Jerry Wilkinson, and Bob Hoeffner. Team statisticians were: EJ Brookes, Jim Kilcur, and Nick Nardo.

The 71-72 team had a breakthrough avenging losses from the previous year to York College (PA) and Spring Garden College, while also earning a hard fought win over Philadelphia Pharmacy. The team also set a team record for the most points scored in a single game that still stands today with 135 points in a win over Don Bosco College.

The top three scorers were Ramella (13.4 PPG), Mazzeo (11.1 PPG), and Wilkinson (9.8 PPG). Wilkinson (7.8 RPG) and McKee (7.5 RPG) led the team on the boards, while Mazzeo had a team-high 32 assists and Ramella (51) and Mazzeo (50) led the team in steals.
