John Plachko '98 was a standout men’s basketball player from 1995-98 graduating from DeSales with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice administration.

After transferring from Shepherd University, Plachko played three years of basketball at DeSales. He is one of just 12 players to record 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds currently ranking 23rd on the all-time scoring list with 1,072 career points and 14th in rebounds with 593. Plachko recorded the sixth most double-doubles (16) and also ranks ninth all-time with 268 made free throws.

Plachko was named All-PAC First-Team in 1997 and All-MAC Freedom First-Team as a senior in 1998. He also earned All-ECAC South Region Second-Team honors twice in his career and was named the Dr. John Compardo Male Athlete of the Year in 1997. He was a member of the first-ever men’s basketball team (1996) and baseball team to make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He played two years of baseball at DeSales.
