Bud Miller ’87 was a standout on the men’s cross country team from 1983-87 graduating from DeSales in the winter of 1988 with a bachelor of science in mathematics.
 
Miller was named the team most valuable player all four years on the team CC team and was the team captain twice as both a junior and a senior. He was named All-EPAC twice (1983 and 1984) and All-ESAC once (1986). Miller was also named All-Mid East Region twice (1986 and 1987).
 
In addition Miller qualified and competed at the NAIA National Championships twice in 1983 and 1984, was the NAIA District 19 runner-up in 1983, and was the NAIA District 19 champion in 1984.  He currently ranks ninth on the all-time fastest runners on the DeSales University 8K course with a time of 27:01.
 
Following graduation Miller earned a minor degree in computer aided design from Lincoln Technical School in 1994.  He works as a 3D CAD designer in environmental engineering and for the past five years has written a column as Zen Motorcyclist for RoadRunner Motorcycle Touring and Travel magazine.
 
In 2000 he developed a suite of software for civil/survey under the name “BudCAD”.  The software is in use in over 400 companies nationwide as he continues to develop, sell, and support that suite.
