Blessing was a standout player on the men's basketball team for four years, serving as co-captain as a senior.  At the time of his induction he was still ranked first all-time in rebounds (877) and field goal percentage (.629).  Blessing scored 1,131 career points, ranked 13th in field goals made (458) and second all-time in double-doubles with 20.  He owned three school-records including most rebounds, most double-doubles, and high field goal percentage in a season.  Blessing was named the Male Athlete of the Year in 1981-82.
