Nancy (Irwin) Hamaday ’86 was a standout and four-year member of the women’s basketball team and a three-year member of the softball team. She is still the only player in school history to score 1,000+ points, grab 700+ rebounds, and dish out 200+ assists in basketball, while batting .283 with 53 hits, 34 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 40 RBIs on the softball diamond.

Nancy still ranks among the all-time leaders at DeSales in several statistical categories, including points (1,171–14th), field goals made (499–9th), field goal percentage (.425– 19th), rebounds (731–7th), assists (265–11th), and double-doubles (11–11th). During her career, she was named PAIAW First-Team twice, NAIA All-District 19 First-Team three times, and she was named Honorable-Mention All-Philadelphia Area once.

After graduating from DeSales, Nancy was hired by Miller, Mason & Dickenson, an actuarial/benefit statement/consulting firm, spending five years with the company. Nancy then spent more than 5 years with the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics administrative office before taking a position with D.M. Sabia & Co. Inc., a local brickwork company. She later worked part-time with Lansdale Medical Group until 2002 when she became a stay-at-home-mom for her infant son while her daughter was in grade school.

She is a proud “members for life” blood donor with the American Red Cross and has taken a very active role in her children’s lives—from helping coach teams to being a cookie mom for her daughter’s girl scout troop.

Nancy has been married to husband Andrew since 1990 and they have one daughter, Amanda, 19, and one son, Alexander, 8. The family lives in Lansdale, Pa.
