Kushma was a four-year starter on the baseball team at shortstop in the mid '90's.  At his time of induction he still ranked among the all-time leaders in several statistical categories including 10th in batting average (.358), fifth in runs scored (145), ninth in hits (171), 10th in doubles (35), tied for third in triples (11), second in home runs (24), second in RBI's (148), and second in assists (378).  Kushma was named the Male Athlete of the Year in 1994-95 and was honored on the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Team twice.  He also earned All-PAC First-Team honors twice, was named to the ECAC Division III South Region First-Team in 1996, and was named the PAC Tournament Most Valuable Player as a senior.  He signed a professional contract with the New York Mets upon his graduation from DeSales.
