Andy Stephens ’96 was a three-year standout on the men’s basketball team from 1993-96 graduating from DeSales in 1996 as a criminal justice major with a secondary education certificate.
 
Stephens put up incredible numbers in his three years as a Bulldog scoring 1,231 career points which currently ranks 14th all-time and continues to be the all-time leader in points per game, averaging 15.8 points per game in his career. In addition he is ranked 11th all-time with 132 made three’s, 14th all-time in three-point field goal percentage (.362), and sixth all-time in free throw percentage (.824).
 
He was named to the All-PAC Second-Team twice as a junior in 1995 and a senior in 1996, while his teams advanced to the PAC championship game in 1996 and qualified for the ECAC South Region Tournament as a junior in 1995.
 
Following graduation, Stephens went on to earn a Masters from Wilkes University in Educational Leadership and has been a social studies teacher for 20 years including three years at Allentown Central Catholic HS, one year at Freedom HS, and 16+ years at Parkland HS.
 
Stephens has had a very successful coaching career as well entering the 2016-17 academic year with a 238-92 overall career record as a high school basketball coach.  He was an assistant coach for eight years at Allentown Central Catholic, Freedom, and Parkland before being hired as the head coach at Emmaus HS in 2004. He coached at Emmaus for four years winning one league championship and qualifying for the District XI final twice.
 
He took over as the head coach at Parkland in 2008 and will be entering his ninth season this year. Parkland has won two league championships and five District XI championships in his first eight years at the helm.
