Manning was a standout baseball player who as of his induction in 2004 was still ranked among the top five all-time in batting average (.397), runs scored (138), doubles (33), triples (10), home runs (17), RBI's (125), and stolen bases (51).  He accomplished all of those numbers in just three years after being drafted in the ninth round of the major league baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants following his junior season.  Manning was named an NCAA Division III All-American in 1996, was a three-time Mid-Atlantic All-Region player and was named an ECAC South Region All-Star in 1996.  In addition, he was honored as the Male Athlete of the Year in 1995-96.
